THIS ISN’T OPTIONAL-(AN APPOINTMENT WITH GOD)

 

Lord Jesus, i thank you for your greatness in our lives, thank you for the gift of life, we thank you for your Grace in our lives. we pray Lord Jesus as we are about to Hear your Word now, please let this Word bless our souls and help us to grow spiritually in Jesus name. Amen. help us O Lord to put this Word into Practice in Jesus' Name Amen.

Ahaahahahahahaa! Hmm… I know not everybody will  like this topic I want to talk to us about but well if you read till the end I guarantee, you will not regrets because you will discover something that will help you too in your spiritual life and of course, your relationship with God.

 we all know what it means to have an appointment and we all know how we feel if  we miss any appointments that would have lift us to the next level in life physically or spiritually. Hmmm, the word “appointment” itself sounds very challenging. It makes you to be alert. Sometimes your appointment with God is interrupted by emergencies. Then as with any other appointment, you have to say “oh, Lord, because of circumstances, my appointment with you today is going to be for just five minutes instead of fifteen minutes or an hour” beloved don’t let times put you under condemnation. God understands emergencies and He’ll look for you to resume your appointment with Hi as soon as you can. Now that’s what man cannot do for you. Especially for those who didn’t even want to help you, they will simply use your refusal of not keeping to an appointment as an excuse of what makes you lose opportunities.

 

There are five agents that eat up your appointment with God. I call them agents and not problems because problems are opportunities to grow. But these agents they have a way they program themselves that they will not clash into each other. But I have good news to share with you, the good news is, today you are going to turn these agents into an opportunity to grow. Amen. Before we can fully overcome these agents we have to identify them because a problem can’t be solved until we recognize that it exists. There is a spirit behind every action so please if any of these problems am going to mention is anywhere related to you, Praise God; you can now choose to conquer them.

AGENTS (PROBLEMS) THAT EAT UP OUR APPOINTMENT WITH GOD

1.  BUSYNESS:  we can become so busy doing good things that God is crowded out of our lives. You know that moment when an overload of thoughts swirled around your mind. So many appointments to keep in one day, deadlines to meet, schedules to plan, duties to perform, family commitments, friends to visit, friends in need. The list could be endless. So endless, no free time for yourself. And you will be too busy even for God.  

2Chronicles 15:3 Now for a long time Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law. 

Beloved, when last did you have an appointment with God, oh yes I know that you go church every Sunday, you attend mid-wed service, you fast and pray in the church, you attend choir rehearsals, you attend youth meeting, bible study you are present, you are even among the intercessory group in the church but have you really been having personal appointment with God. It very funny how some people will miss an appointment with God in the morning in their homes, hurried to work or business, and you expect that business to grow and even in your work place you still don’t pray but hurried to attend to people and you are fanning yourself that you are doing well, I tell you, beloved you are not. You do you think you will be if you keep appointment every day before attending to that business?

Isaiah 64:4 says for since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for God. My brothers and sisters, when waiting on the Lord by keeping appointment with Him? When you forget God and swims in the river of busyness hear what is coming your way.

 2chronicles 16:9 says for the eyes f the LORD run to and fro throughput the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect towards him. Herein thou has done foolishly: therefore from henceforth shalt have wars.

When you fail to keep appointment with God you invites unnecessary problems into your life, your destiny because we are told to be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. 1peter 5:8

Although you may not quite identify with what I’ve mention, I’m sure you have your own ways of being too busy for God. Even lazy people are busy. Have you noticed that they don’t have anything to do but keep busy doing it? There is a time principle job expand to take up the amount of time available. If you don’t have anything to do, you are still busy. Satan will see to it that you are too busy for Gd. True or false?

  

2.       BOREDOM:  the second problem is boredom, now this may not be so to everyone. Do you find out that you’re no longer excited about Jesus like when you where first saved and filled with the Holy Spirit? You were happy, thrilled and excited. Hear this please, if you will schedule a time alone with God every day, that excitant will return to you.

John 7:38 says “He that believeth on me, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water” it’s nobody’s fault, you have to repent and go back to God.

3.       3. “Used to” relationship with God: let me ask us this question, how do think  if a husband should wake  up one morning and said to his  wife “sweetheart I used to love you but  now I don’t anymore” the wife will so cry, demoralized and probably  push to believe that the husband is having an affair outside. That’s how some of us are today you love God, tomorrow you are done with loving God. I can study the word, pray in tongues, if I sings angels will be backing me up and heaven must open. I prayed and people get healed and the list continues. And all of a sudden, everything change, my beloved why?

Revelation 4:2 says “nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

What is happening to you? You must have an up-to-date personal relationship with God. Do you know that salvation is not just n experience? It is a process, which begins with an experience called the new birth. Since salvation is a process, the new birth is simply the gate into the process. A daily appointment with God will renew your first love relationship with God. 

4. STAGNATION is the fourth problem; I tell you the only way that you can have a consistent walk with God is to have a daily appointment with him. Then you can be alone with Him, He will speak to you, and you to Him, and you can get a fresh anointing from God Himself.

Romans 12:2 says  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may  prove what is that good, and acceptable and perfect will of God. Beloved that’s just the cure for stagnation.

   5.  FORMALISM OR PROFESSIONALISM is the last problem against an appointment with God. 2Timothy 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such time away.

If you do not quickly get rid of this, one day you’re going to find your hands lifted up into the air to God, and you won’t mean it at all. You’ll just be going through the motions you’ll be clapping and singing, but your mind will be on something entirely different from the worship of God. Your heart won’t be in it. They will just be motions and rituals-you will have become a formalist.

It is very scary for another brother or sister that just given his or her life to Jesus to say to you, Oh! my brother or sister you used to be zealous in things of God, what is happening to you now, where is that fire, where is that love, please come back to God, Create time for Him , He is our creator.

An appointment with God is the only hope of an individual to stay out of formalism. Let me tell you very kindly, if you don’t make up your mind to have an appointment with God, you will end up being bored and stagnant, regardless of how much God has used you in the past. This isn’t optional.

 The key to your spiritual Growth, being a successful Christian and on how to be consistent in your love for God is daily appointment with God.
